Money....what is that??

It seems almost silly that lack of money is the biggest deterrent to overseas adoption.

This 'post-holiday' season is as dry financially as the freezing wind outside. We had a horrific time just before Christmas when our ten year old daughter experienced her second seizure ever. The first was in July and she ended up in Dartmouth-Hitchcock Pediatric ICU for several days. This time was nearly as bad. Once again she was taken via heliocopter to the PICU at Dartmouth and we tentitively planned to celebrate Christmas in the hospital this year. Happily, though, she was able to come home on Christmas Eve and has been fine and seizure free since.

Not only did this experience take a toll on us emotionally, it was a killer financially. Randy spent every day and night at the hospital while I stayed home with the other three children. There were those days he was out of work added to the meals and other items he needed to purchase while up there. Then last minute Christmas shopping by two over-enthusiastic parents thankful to have their family well and together. All in all we are now suffering for it.

We have sent out fundraising information to many friends and family but responses are slow in coming. I know that many other families are experiencing money problems and I am hoping that those who have the money will feel inclined to give. This adoption will be accomplished by God's provision and very probably the generosity of others. We hope that our contacts realize that donating money to this endeavor is not the same as handing the Welchs some cash for some wacky scheme....but for the good of four lovely children in Ethiopia. Helping us adopt is helping these children gain a home.

Please pray for us. Pray that God will provide the funds for this adoption. Pray that our friends will realize the opportunity they have been given. Pray that Ametash, Tsegaw, Metasebia and Esubalew remain confident that the Lord will bring them to their forever family soon.
